We're Late! |
View Description
| School carried rules and restrictions for a young child growing up in Newfoundland and Labrador. From learning how to whisper at the age of five to the teacher's expectations around sitting quietly and being on time, school and its inherent awe, was set apart from the rest of the activities in the cove. As a child, attending a small two-room school, Linda was intimidated by the empty playground which could mean that you were late and standing in a corner or holding books over your head could be the consequence. |

Return of the Sealers |
View Description
| As a child, Linda and her family often experienced the long wait for the sealers' return from the ice floes. The sight of sealers in the distance heading towards home was a welcome one, as they anxiously counted the dark images to determine whether all the men were actually there. |
